Gehlot demands compensation for affected farmers

Jaipur, Mar 5 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot has demanded that farmers, especially in Jodhpur division and other parts be compensated for the damage to their crops due to heavy rains and hailstorm in the past few days.

''Crops were damaged in Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota and Jaipur divisions due to hailstorm. zeera, onion and many other crops were destroyed,'' a statement, issued by him said.

He demanded that the damage to the crops be estimated and compensation be given to the farmers immediately. He expressed concern that the state government has not taken any concrete steps to provide succour to the affected farmers in the past one month.
