'International Mathematical Congress' in 2010 in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 4: 'International Mathematical Congress', organised jointly by the Centre and Hyderabad Central University, would be held at the University campus in 2010, its Vice Chancellor Dr Seyed E Hasnain said today.

Talking to newspersons here, Dr Hasnain said India would be hosting the Congress for the first time in which about 6000 eminent mathematicians and experts in statistics from reputed universitites around the world would take part.

Stating that it was the second time that such a huge Maths Conference was being organised in Asia, he said 'Feilds medal' would be presented to the prominent mathematician at the Congress.

The medal would carry a cash prize of one lakh US dollars, which was considered equivalent to 'Nobel Prize' in Science Category.
