TDP to abolish LC after regaining power: Naidu

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (UNI) Even as the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was fielding its candidates in the forthcoming State Legislative Council(LC) elections, the TDP President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the Council would be abolished immediately after the party regained power in the State.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu alleged that corruption was taking place in the LC polls scheduled on March 17 and teachers and graduates, who were in fray, were also spending crores of rupees to win the elections.

Pointing out that the present Congress Government had introduced indirect elections to local bodies, he said the party would introduce direct elections after the party took the reigns of the state.
