Nine rowdies arrested in Mysore

Mysore, Mar 3 (UNI) The city police have arrested a gang of nine notorious rowdies from Bangalore when they were planning to commit dacoity in the city.

City police Commissioner Praveen Sood told newspersons here that based on a tip off, the anti-rowdy squad of the city police rounded them up when the rowdies were moving around in a suspicious manner.

The criminals were planning to commit dacoity here to mobilise money for releasing their friend, lodged in a city jail, on bail.

The police seized a countrymade revolver, bullets, one dagger, two knives, cash and gold ornaments along with photocopies of documents pertaining to benami lands from them.

Mr Sood said gang leader K Laxminarayana alias 'Killer' Lakki and his associates had murdered their rival Prakash of Rajivnagar in a dispute over money lending and real estate in 1998. The gang had murdered another rowdy gang leader Prasad alias Prasadi in 2005 for the same reason.

The arrested were identified as Somashekhar, Lucas alias Lokan, Raja Rao, Prahlad, Prakash, Praveen Kumar, Ravikumar and M Kiran Solanki, apart from 'Killer Lakki'.
