New industrial policy on anvil: CPI
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 3 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) Secretary and MP Sudhakar Reddy has said a new industrial policy would soon be tabled in Parliament.
''In Bastar district's Lohniguda block, villagers earlier agreed -- at a gram sabha -- to the handing over of land for a proposed Tata steel plant provided their 13-point charter of demands was met. As six months have passed without the demands being met, another gram sabha passed a proposal not to let the land be handed over,'' he told mediapersons here last evening.
Alleging that 50 villagers were injured, eight of them severely, in a clash with the police at Takraguda on Monday, Mr Reddy dmanded that CPI leader Manish Kunjam be freed, the villagers be provided treatment and land survey work be halted.
