Madurai Collector transferred

Chennai, Mar 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has transferred Senior Collector, Virudhunagar district S S Jawahar and posted him as Senior Collector, Madurai district.

Mr Jawahar would replace D Karthikeyan, posted recently as Madurai District Collector, who was granted leave, an official release here said.

Virudhunagar District Revenue Officer would hold full additional charge as Collector, Virudhunagar district, until further orders, the release said.

Mr Karthikeyan had been posted only recently as Madurai Collector, amidst protests from Dalit Panchayat Presidents of the area, who wanted Mr Udhayachandran to continue as collector as he had ensured free and fair elections to reserved constituencies in the district.
