JD (S) wants port project dropped

Puducherry, Mar 3 (UNI) The Janata Dal (Secular) here today urged the administration to drop the port development project 'which will severely hit the people of the union territory, particularly those in Thengaithittu Village.

Talking to newspersons, JD (S) State President E Ganesan said Health Minister E Valaraj who belonged to Mahe Region and Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao from Yanam Region were concentrating on only on their constituencies.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy should consider this and take steps to drop the project which would hit fishermen as well as the people of Thengaithittu Village.

Pointing out the government failed to get 50 per cent seats in private medical colleges here last year, Mr Ganesan said concerted efforts should be taken to secure the quota in all seven medical colleges here for the benefit of the local students.
