Indian doctor invests Dh900 mln in healthcentres: UAE

Dubai, Mar 3: An Indian medical doctor and entrepreneur, whose company manages 40 healthcare centres and pharmacies in the UAE, will invest more than Dh900 million for setting up 60 more outlets across the region, including 10 hospitals.

Chairman of Moopen Group Dr Azad Moopen said his plan was to have 100 healthcare centres including 10 hospitals in three years.

''The new investment will include Dh500 million to set up 10 modern hospitals and the rest will be utilised to set up clinics and pharmacies across the region,'' Dr Moopen told Gulf News.

The move will make Dr Moopen Group the largest provider of healthcare services in the private sector in the GCC.

He said his group is catering to a wider spectrum of the society including the low income group to the high networth individuals.

Dr Moopen owns and manages the largest network of private healthcare facilities in the UAE.

He established the Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), a 600 bed, 30 million US dollars super speciality tertiary care hospital of international standards in Kerala in 2001.

The company currently employs 2,200 physicians, nurses and paramedics.
