Karnal, Mar 3 (UNI) The BJP in Haryana today demanded resignation of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for ''increasing atrocities'' on dalits during his tenure.

BJP state vice president Ratan Lal Kataria, after visiting the troubled Salwan village where dalit houses were set on fire on March one, said Mr Hooda had learnt no lessons from Gohana and Mehmadpur incidents wherein dalits had suffered the upper caste fury.

Describing the alleged apathy of the Chief Minister in this regard as extremly unfortunate, he said the BJP would take up the matter in the ongoing session of Parliament.

He demanded rehablitation of the dalit families in the village on a war footing.

He also demanded Rs ten lakh compensation to the family of Manipal, a Rajput farmer of Salwan, who was allegedly killed by two dalits of the village and whose death had triggered the attack on the dalits.

Former Union Minister of State for Home I D Swami was also present in the press conference.
