327 huts destroyed in fire

Puducherry, Mar 3 (UNI) As many as 327 thatched huts were destroyed in a fire at Davidpet here this afternoon.

Electrical short circuit is suspected to be the cause of fire.

Fire tenders from Puducherry town, Gorimedu, Villianur and Kalapet were pressed into service to douse the flames.

However, there was no loss of life. The total property loss was estimated at Rs one crore.
