'We support India-Pak peace; withdraw troops'
Srinagar, Mar 2: Extending his full support to the Indo-Pak peaceprocess, Chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) MirwaizMoulvi Omar Farooq today said that the withdrawal of troops would bethe first step towards finding a durable and acceptable solution to theKashmir issue.
Addressing a friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid thisafternoon the Mirwaiz said that the Hurriyat Conference (HC) fullysupports the ongoing process between the two countries.
We as a main party to the dispute extend support to the India andPakistan in their resolve to find a peaceful and lasting solution tothe issue, he said adding both the countries have now realised thatthere could be no military solution to this problem.
He said the Kashmir issue has entered a decisive phase because ofthe supreme sacrifices made by the people of the Jammu and Kashmirsince 1947.
The Mirwaiz said a process has started to address the Kashmirissue but the withdrawal of troops would be the first positive step inthis direction.
He said the withdrawal of troops would help to improve relationsbetween India and Pakistan. However, he said, some mainstream politicalparties are trying to use this for their political gains only to createhurdles.
The Mirwaiz said all the separatist organisations have to make a united effort to reach the goal.
