Srinagar, Mar 2 (UNI) Extending his full support to the Indo-Pak peace process, Chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq today said that the withdrawal of troops would be the first step towards finding a durable and acceptable solution to the Kashmir issue.

Addressing a friday congregation at the historic Jamia Masjid this afternoon the Mirwaiz said that the Hurriyat Conference (HC) fully supports the ongoing process between the two countries.

We as a main party to the dispute extend support to the India and Pakistan in their resolve to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the issue, he said adding both the countries have now realised that there could be no military solution to this problem.

He said the Kashmir issue has entered a decisive phase because of the supreme sacrifices made by the people of the Jammu and Kashmir since 1947.

The Mirwaiz said a process has started to address the Kashmir issue but the withdrawal of troops would be the first positive step in this direction.

He said the withdrawal of troops would help to improve relations between India and Pakistan. However, he said, some mainstream political parties are trying to use this for their political gains only to create hurdles.

The Mirwaiz said all the separatist organisations have to make a united effort to reach the goal.
