Road block stir affect traffic on ECR

Puducherry, Mar 2 (UNI) Traffic on the East Coast Road (ECR) at Pakkamudayanpet kokku park junction here was affected for about one hour as the villagers of Vinobhanagar resorted to a road blockade agitation to press their demands.

Demanding that the roads in Vinobhanagar with slush and gutters be rectified, Sudha, the councillor from the ward gave representations to the Ozhukarai municipality several times and there was no response from the authorties.

Following this, villagers gathered under the leadership of CPI legislator R Viswanathan from Reddiyarpalayam constituency and Sudha and obstructed the road.

Even after police held talks with them, they refused to call off the stir following which Ozgukarai Municipality Executive Engineer Mr Murugasamy reached the spot and assured them that immediate steps would be taken on their demand. The villagers then withdrew the agitation.
