Govt has nothing to do with CBI probe: Dasmunsi
New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Deploring the disruption caused by the Samajwadi Party in both Houses of Parliament, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi today clarified that the Government had no hand in the Supreme Court's order for a CBI inquiry into the disproportionate assets of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster Mulayam Singh Yadav.
''If the Congress is fighting against any party in a state, that does not necessarily mean that the Centre has joined in the fight,'' he told mediapersons after proceedings in both Houses were disrupted over the issue.
''Even in Bengal, we are fighting our opponents who are supporting us at the Centre,'' he pointed out.
Mr Dasmunsi regretted that it was only yesterday that both Houses had resumed their normal proceedings but the SP members created furore today without any valid reason. ''This is highly improper,'' he said.
Asked whether the person filing the petition against Mr Mulayam Singh about his disproportionate assets was a Congressman, the Minister said any citizen could point an accusing finger at any person in the Government. ''He enjoyes this right,'' the Minister said.
The petitioner, Vishwanath Chaturvedi, is a Congress worker from Uttar Pradesh on whose petition the Supreme Court yesterday gave the direction to the CBI to conduct investigation into the Chief Minster and his family members' disproportionate assets.
