Cong seeks ban on UP govt ad showing Amitabh

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) The Congress has urged the Election Commission to inquire into the TV advertisement by the Uttar Pradesh government featuring Mega Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and demanded a ban on it.

Congress Spokesman Abhishek Manu Sighvi said the government machinery is being ''misused'' in putting up the advertisement specially just ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.

He said all the facts to this effect have been furnished to the Election Commission and ''it is now for the Commission to take action on it''.

''It is illegal and unconstitutional,'' he added.

Now the matter is between the Uttar Pradesh government and the Election Commission, the Congress has done its duty by the drawing the Commission's attention towards the advertisement, Mr Singhvi said.
