Villager convicted for abusing tribal

Bilaspur, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court has sentenced six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 to a villager for abusing and insulting a tribal.

Special Judge Mahendra Rathore yesterday convicted Narmada Prasad, a resident of Pendra police station area, for abusing and insulting Dooman Singh Gond for being a tribal after the latter failed to return a harmonium on February 5 last year.

Police registered the case under SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act).
