Three notorious robbers arrested

Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) Crime Detection Unit of city police today arrested three members of Ramesh alias 'Dabbu' Upadhyay gang, operating from Uttar Pradesh, for their alleged involvement in several robbery cases in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Pune in last one year.

Briefing mediapersons here, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhananjay Kamlakar said 'They had arrested three notorious robbers--Kiran alias Pappu Ramashankar Yadav (23), Salim Abdul (24) and Kandswami Devendra (27), who were wanted in several robbery cases including bank robbery in Navi Mumbai, in which a Police Sub-Inspector, S Adhaw, was killed in the firing.'' He said Yadav was arrested from Uttar Pradesh by the city police on the information provided by the informer, while the other two were picked up from Navi Mumbai.

All of them were wanted in 10 robbery cases, registered with Azad Maidan and Nehru Nagar police stations in the metropolis, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Dombivli and Pune areas, he said.

During interrogation, they revealed that in the last one year they had robbed ornaments and cash, totally worth more than Rs 40 lakh, he added.
