MP Cong accuses BJP of violating model code
Bhopal, Mar 1 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has accused the state's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime of violating the model code of conduct in the run-up to March 8 bypolls and written to the Chief Electoral Officer in this regard.
Congress Legal Cell President J P Dhanopia alleged that canvassing was being mixed with religion and agents were being fixed in the garb of independent candidates. Police officers ''enjoying long tenures'' in Udaypura assembly constituency were ''harassing'' Congress workers.
''Two of the officers are relatives of the BJP nominee and should therefore be transferred forthwith. In Gwalior parliamentary constituency, religion-linked hoardings are hurting a certain community,'' he added.
