LS adjourns on Quattrocchi issue
New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned for 30 minutes when the BJP-led Opposition disrupted the proceedings on the Quattrocchi issue.
As soon as the house assembled for the day, BJP Deputy Floor Leader V K Malhotra was on his feet demanding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh be asked to make a statement on the detention and release on bail of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in the Bofors kickbacks case.
Sensing the mood of the Opposition, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the house for 30 minutes till 1130 hrs.
Quattrocchi was detained by Interpol in Argentina on February six. He was subsequently released on bail.
