Raipur, Mar 1 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes after the opposition Congress alleged that dalia (broken wheat), worth about Rs 160 crore, was purchased without inviting tenders and staged a walkout demanding an inquiry.

Replying to a question by Mr Bhupesh Baghel (Cong), Women and Child Welfare Minister Lata Usendi said that steps were being taken to make arrangements from April for supply of supplementary nutrition in anganwadis as the Supreme Court had directed not to employ contractors for the purpose.

Mr Baghel and Mr Mohammad Akbar (Cong) fired a volley of questions about purchase of dalia alleging corruption in purchase.

Accusing the government of trying to conceal facts, Congress members staged the walkout.

To another question of Mr Dharamjit Singh (Cong), Ms Usendi said that the government would consider a suggestion to set up a laboratory for quality certification of dalia.
