CBSE examinations commences across country
New Delhi, Mar 1: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations commenced across the country today.
More than 12.07 lakh pupils are appearing for the twelfth and tenth standard examinations.
For the twelfth standard examination, which began today, about 5,02,688 students, including 2,11,582 girls, appeared.
The number has registered an increase of 9.59 per cent compared to last year, when 4,54,480 candidates wrote the examination.
More than 7,05,152 pupils, including 4,12,455 boys, will appearfor the tenth class examinations, which are being held from tomorrowThe figure for tenth class has also recorded an increase of 8.11 percent from last year when 6,47,992 students appeared.
In Delhi, students, accompanied by parents, started arriving early at the examination centres.
The Board has asked tenth standard students to start early for the examination centres tomorrow to avoid traffic jams.
In the Delhi region, while 2,07,317 class ten candidates willwrite the examination, 3.62 per cent more than 2006, for class twelve1,56,257 will appear, marking an increase of 7.06 per cent.
While 30 centres for Class twelve in Delhi have been declaredsensitive, 39 centres for class ten have been put in the same categoryin the national capital.
