A robber convicted in 1999 robbery case
Mumbai, Mar 1 (UNI) A local court today convicted a person to seven-years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a robbery case of 1999.
Pronoucing the judgement, Additional Session Court Judge S P Davare said accused Vijay Tambe was held guilty in a robbery case of 1999, he have to undergo RI for seven-years and pay fine of Rs 500 or in default he will have to undergo further RI for 15-days.
On September One, 1999, accused Tambe and his associates Shashi Bagade, Vinod Wohare and Arvind Kamble had robbed Mohanlal Jetharam (33), a businessman at Kumbharwada in south Mumbai.
They had threatened the complainant at knife point and fled with a 10 gm gold chain and cash of Rs 6,000.
All the accused were arrested by police but later released on bail.
After getting bail, all the accused were absconding. Court declared them proclaimed offenders. Police later successfully traced Shashi Begade and conducted trial against him. He was convicted last year by the court. Thereafter, police had traced Tambe, who was convicted today. Whereas, other two accused are still at large.
