25-year-old man convicted in a rape case

Nadiad, Mar 1 (UNI) A local Fast Track Court has convicted a 25-year-old man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl in May 2006.

Nadiad Fast Track Judge D M Patel found Dasrath Solanki guilty of raping the minor girl under sections 376 and 506 (II) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

He also slapped a fine of Rs 11,000, or in default, to undergo a further imprisonment of one month.

The accused lured the girl to a lonely farm in village Reckhial of Kheda district on May 11, 2006, and committed the crime. On the basis of the information given by the victim, he was arrested by the police on May 18.

The accused unsuccessfully tried to flee from police custody last month, when he was produced before the court. But his attempt was foiled by the police.
