New scheme for jobs to physically challenged
New Delhi, Feb 28: Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said thegovernment will support creation of about one lakh jobs every year forthe physically challenged persons with a salary limit of Rs 25,00/- permonth.
To incentivise employers in organized sector to provide regularemployment to the physically challenged persons, he proposed a schemeto reimburse employer's contribution to the Employees Provident Fund(EPF) and Employees State Insurance (ESI) for the first three years.
Presenting the Budget proposals in the Lok Sabha Mr Chidambaramsaid the Government would reward the employer, once physicallychallenged employee is regularised and enrolled under EPF and ESI.
He estimated the cost to the government at Rs 150 crore per annumrising to Rs 450 crore per annum when the scheme is fully rolled out.The Finance Minister has earmarked Rs 1800 crore for this purpose inthe budget.
