Kyindiah promises to replace Dafla by Nyishi

Itanagar, Feb 28 (UNI) Union Tribal Affairs Minister P R Kyindiah has assured neccessary action to facilitate amendment of the Sixth Schedule to replace the deroragatory nomenclature of Dafla by Nyishi.

Speaking at the Nyokum Yullo festival of the Nyishi community yesterday, Mr Kyndiah gave his word to the Nyishi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh that steps will be taken to ensure the change of nomenclature.

The festival was attended by various MPs and MLAs of the state.

''The ball is in my court and I assure you that it will be done at any cost,'' Mr Kyindiah said, while appreciating the rich cultural heritage of the tribe, showcased during the festival.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Home and Health Minister RG Lyngdoh called upon all tribes of the Northeast region to forget their differences and help speed up progress of the entire region.
