Israeli troops kill 3 Palestinians in Jenin-medics

JENIN, West Bank, Feb 28 (Reuters) Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinian militants and one civilian in the West Bank city of Jenin today during a raid, a senior hospital official said.

Mohammed Abu Ghali, the head of Jenin's main hospital, told Reuters that two members of the militant Islamic Jihad group and a civilian taxi driver were killed during an Israeli raid in the northern West Bank city.

The Israeli military said it was checking the report.

Palestinian witnesses said an undercover Israeli unit shot the two militants dead and killed the bystander driver.

Israeli forces launched raids in the West Bank city of Nablus today, a day after withdrawing most of its forces from there, Palestinian security sources said.
