Drop Port develpt project in Puducherry: Forum

Puducherry, Feb 28 (UNI) The Forum of freedom fighters' association of Puducherry has urged the administration to drop the port development project here.

Forum president Periyasamy, in a statement here yesterday, said the project would affect the fertile land of Thengaithittue village, where cultivation of three crops were taken up in a year.

With apprehension among the villagers that they would lose their residential areas also, the government should either drop the project or consider AICC general secretary V Narayansamy's suggestion to shift the project to some other area, away from the town, he added.
