BJP MLA arrested, released on bail

Itanagar, Feb 28 (UNI) BJP Legislator Techi Hemu was today released on interim bail after he was arrested yesterday.

The MLA was arrested after he surrendered before East Kameng District Superintendent of Police in connection with a criminal case registered on February 18, on the basis of an FIR lodged by PWD executive engineer D P Singh, Superintendent of Police Nabam Gungte said here.

''Mr Singh had alleged that he was called by the legislator on February 13 to circuit house and assaulted on his refusal to prepare false bills amounting to Rs 30 lakh in favour of the former's younger brother Kabling Tachang against the improvement and maintenance work of Seppa-Sagalee PWD road,'' he informed.

Following the court directive, all relevant documents like order- cum-bill and measurement book, pertaining to the case had been seized from Seppa PWD division.

These documents would be produced in the High Court on March 2 next for consideration of regular bail of the accused, the SP added.
