Bird flu laboratory starts operation in Pune
Pune, Feb 28 (UNI) A bird-flu testing laboratory, the first in Maharashtra, became functional here today.
Animal Husbandry Commissioner Vijay Kumar told reporters, scientists and investigation department will conduct the tests at the laboratory, set up at a cost of Rs two crore. So far, 12,000 samples have been tested for bird flu but were found negative.
The Pune-based laboratory will cater to Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Goa.
