RJD makes its mark in Manipur, Speaker fails
Imphal, Feb 27:The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) made its presence felt in Manipur today when its candidate Hellaluddin Khan defeated Speaker Maniruddin Sheikh of the Congress by a margin of 280 votes in Lilong assembly constituency.
Of the three seats declared till now, the Congress, the NCP and the RJD bagged one each.
While, Congress president president Gaikhangam was reelected from 54 Nungba AC constituency, defeating his nearest rival Gangmumei Kamei (Independent) by a margin of 5000 votes, Th Navakumar of the NCP got the better of sitting MLA K Tomba of the Congress from Khundrakpam seat by a margin of 500 votes.
Independents were also leading in two seats.
