Rajasthan's Budget Session likely to be stormy

Jaipur, Feb 27 (UNI) Rajasthan's Budget Session beginning on March 1 is likely to be stormy with the Opposition Congress ready to grill the ruling BJP on many a controversial issue.

However, the BJP led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have already finalised a strategy to counter the Opposition attack. At a meeting of party's legislative members held yesterday, Ms Raje asked the MLAs to remain united and take on the Opposition while maintaining the dignity of the House.

Raje, who has been facing opposition from her own partymen, has an arduous task not to let the differences show in the House. State Education minister Ghyanshyam Tiwari, Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria and Social Welfare minister Madan Dilawar, who are said to highly upset over Raje's attitude, have often made their dissatisfaction public, which may eventually reflect in the House.

At the meeting yesterday, BJP state president Dr Mahesh Sharma cautioned the legislators against being pawns in the hands of the media.

Dr Sharma's election to the post has also seen opposition from some groups within the BJP, which would have a fall-out in the House.

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trust land scam is going to be uppermost in the minds of the Opposition when the session begins. The government, which backtracked after a hue and cry was raised over illegal allotment of land to this RSS-backed trust at throwaway price at a prime location in the state capital, will be cornered on the issue.
