Bihar budget indicates efficient finance management-Nitish

Patna, Feb 27(UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today described the states budget as development oriented and said the budget indicates efficient finance management in the state.

After presentation of the budget for the financial year 2007-08 in the state Assembly by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, Mr Kumar told newspersons that the budget was development oriented and stress had been laid on infrastructural development. He lauded the efforts of the finance minister saying that the budget would pave the way for development of the state.

Special attention had been given to road and power sectors he said and added that the state government in principle had agreed with the NTPC to set up two thermal power units at Nabinagar.

Mr Kumar dubbed the budget as a balanced one in which almost all sections had been given equal attention. He said the government had proposed for investment of Rs 58000 crores during the next five years for development of the state and Rs 10200 crore would be spent under the first phase.
