AP Assembly adjourned amid pandemonium

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly today adjourned for ten minutes amid pandemonium afer Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed debate on the adjournment motion on various issues given notice of by the Opposition parties.

The TDP, CPI, BJP, TRS, CPI(M) and Janata Party members' demand for the debate was disallowed by Speaker K R Suresh Reddy.

Trouble began soon after with Opposition members trooping into the well of the House and shouting slogans.

Speaker Suresh Reddy repeatedly told the members they could raise all the issues during the debate on Budget.

While the CPI wanted a debate on lathicharge on nursing students in Anantapur, the BJP sought to highlight the 'government's failure to secure funds from the Railway Budget for projects in the state.

The TDP and CPI(M) gave notices on welfare of Dalits while the CPI(M) demanded setting up of a nodal agency for spending funds for their welfare.

The TRS wanted debate on the 'failure' of implementation of six point formula in public undertakings, inlcuding the APSEB.

Janata Party Floor Leader K Ramulu wanted to take up construction of water tanks in Metpally Constituency.

Communist members wanted at least a statement from the government on the issues raised by them.

Speaker said rules would not permit any statement on adjournment moiton rejected by him. He said after the debate on the Budget, the Minister concerned will make a statement on the issues raised by the members.

Mr Suresh Reddy told TRS Floor Leader Vijayarama Rama Rao he was the first speaker on the Budget and could raise the six-point formula issue during his speech.

Members continued to raise slogans and argued with the chair. As the Speaker could not take up the Question Hour, he adjourned the House for ten minutes.
