AIMIM opposes govt decision
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi today expressed his party's opposition to Andhra Pradesh government's decision to form Greater Hyderabad merging some of the villages on the outskirts of the city.
Participating in the debate on the Annual Financial Statement (Budget) for 2007-08, he reminded state Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that he had opposed the decision regarding the issue during the TDP regime when he was the Opposition Leader.
He said the TDP considered the opposition's view points had dropped the proposal. He wanted the Congress government also to withdraw the decision.
Mr Owaisi said the state government must protect wakf properties and said they were illegally occupied by unscrupulous elements. He also wanted the allocation for the minority welfare to 500 crore and demanded that minority students be paid scholarships on par with BC students.
Stressing on the need for better transport facilities, Owaisi warned that if these were not improved, investments would go to other states.
