Rohtak, Feb 27 (UNI) At least 90 workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and its frontal organisations were arrested by police here today while they were protesting against rising prices and economic polices of the UPA government at the Centre.

The Left activists were holding a demonstration outside the office of the Income Tax department this afternoon.

CPI (M) state secretariat members Surender Malik, district CPI (M) secretary Ram Chander Yadav, Janwadi Mahila Samiti leader Jagmati Sangwan, Kisan Sabha leader Preet Singh and youth leader Naresh Sharma were among those who addressed the activists.

Holding party flags and banners, the protesters raised slogans against the ''steep'' rise in the prices of essential commodities and ''anti-people'' economic policies of the UPA government.

Police arrested about 90 protesters who were taken to police lines from where they were released later in the day.
