36 MLAs not elected in Manipur elections

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) Thirtysix members of the last Assembly were defeated in the Ninth Assembly elections of which results were declared today.

Only 24 MLAs were able to retain their seats in the 60-member house.

Prominent leaders defeated include former chief minister RK Dorendro(MPP), minister of health DK Korunthang, C Doungel(Cong), and Ngamthang Haokip (Cong).

Political heavyweight, who managed to win this time was former chief minister Radhabinod Koijam (NCP chief).

Political heavyweights who failed to make this time were former Union Minister Th Chaoba (MPP), and MPP President Dr L Chandramani.
