3 UP MLAs join BSP
Lucknow, Feb 27 (UNI) Two Samajwadi Party legislators and an Independent today resigned from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and joined the Mayawati-led BSP.
The three legislators Shahjil Islam (independent from Cantonment, Bareilly), Dharampal Singh (Hapur) and Ramkrishna (Machrehta) have submitted their resignation letters to BSP chief Mayawati.
Dharampal and Ramkrishna were earlier in the BSP, but had later joined the ruling Samajwadi Party.
They had been disqualified by the Speaker for rejoining BSP, but the order was stayed by the Supreme Court.
The legislators have alleged Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey was acting as an agent of the ruling SP and the state government had failed to respect in spirit the SC ruling of February 14 disqualifying 13 rebel BSP MLAs.
