VVC to keep watch for infiltrators: SP
Cuddalore, Feb 26 (UNI) The police have decided to strengthen the Village Vigilance Committees (VVC) in 54 coastal villages of the state in order to to tighten the coastal vigilance.
In the backdrop of recent arms and explosives seizure from suspected LTTE elements, the VVCs would be strenghtened in order to keep a tight vigil in the coastal areas and report to the police on the movement of suspicious persons, new Superitendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Kumar today said.
Besides these, the VVCs would also work towards the improvement of people-police relations in the villages and prevent any untoward incidents.
Warning the anti-social elements, the SP said rowdyism would be tackled with an iron hand. Moreover, all steps would be initiated to bring down the accident rate in the district, he added.
