TN: Passengers escape unhurt from bus on fire

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 26: More than 25 passengers, including twomembers of the crew, had a miraculous escape, when the mini bus inwhich they were travelling accidentally caught fire at Vaiyampattivillage near here last night.

Police sources said the bus was proceeding to Chennai from Udumalpet, when the mishap occurred.

The rear portion of the bus accidentally cauight fire. The driverwas unaware of at and kept speeding the bus. However, some collegestudents, travelling in a bus behind, noticed the fire.

They overtook the omni bus and informed the matter to the driver.

All the passengers were asked to alight before the flames engulfedthe entire bus. Since, the accident took place late in the night, nohelp was available to extinguish the inferno.

However, the personal effects of passengers were burnt to ashes.

On information, police rushed to the spot. The reason for the fire was not immediately known.
