TDP demands Govt display GO 938 files
Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded the State Chief Secretary to show the 'notefiles' of the media gag order GO 938, which endorsed a check on defamatory and baseless media reports.
A delegation of the TDP MLAs led by the party senior leader N Janardhan Reddy met Chief Secretary J Harinarayana at his chambers in the Secretariat and demanded his show the notefiles of the GO which was cancelled by the Government, following protests from the opposition parties and media organisations.
Speaking to newspersons after meeting the official, Mr Reddy said the Chief Secretary had not agreed to show the documents pertaining to the GO, forcing the MLAs to resort to stage a sit-in in front of his Chambers for a while.
He said the party would move a privilege motion against Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, alleging that he mislead the House in the Assembly tomorrow.
