Israeli settler was killed by militants: Police
Jerusalem, Feb 26: An Israeli man stabbed to death in the occupied West Bank was killed by Palestinian militants, Israeli police said today.
No Palestinian armed group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Israeli security forces found the body of the man, who police said was a Jewish settler, yesterday in a vehicle on a West Bank road between a Palestinian village and the Gush Etzion settlement bloc.
''The murder was carried out on the basis of a terrorist attack,'' National Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. ''He was stabbed several times.'' He did not say how police knew that militants were behind the attack.
An Israeli was last killed by Palestinian militants in the West Bank in August when gunmen shot a soldier at a military checkpoint.
Israeli security forces found the body of an Israeli civilian in a Palestinian village in the West Bank earlier this month. Police said he had died in an accident.
About 260,00 Jewish settlers and 2.5 million Palestinians live in the West Bank.
