First woman mayor for RMC
Rajahmundry, Feb 26 (UNI) Ms Adireddy Veera Raghavamma of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was today unanimously elected as the first woman mayor of Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) here.
During the election, 31 corporators raised their hands in support of Ms Raghavamma.
Election Special Officer and East Godavari Collector M Subramanyam administered oath of office and secrecy to 50 corporators earlier.
Later, Mr B S Prasad also of the TDP was unanimously elected as deputy mayor.
Seventeen Congress Corporators led by MLA Routhu Suryaprakash Rao entered the council after garlanding Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the RMC premises.
