Demonstrating YC activists arrested

Kolkata, Feb 26 (UNI) Altogether 29 youth Congress activists were arrested when they staged a demonstration in front of the state Secretariat today in protest against the alleged killing of a party supporter by a police officer in Katwa of Bardhaman district yesterday.

The YC supporters, who gathered in front of the central gate of the Writers' Buildings violating the prohibitory ordrs, suddenly started shouting slogans and waving flags.

They were demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the police officer, who had allegedly made the 'unprovoked firing' on the Congress supporter during the polling for the governing body of a local college.
