Congress MLAs in UP resign as Assembly term ends

Lucknow, Feb 26 (UNI) Fifteen MLAs of the Uttar Pradesh Congress today handed in their resignations to UP state unit President Salman Khurshid as the term of the present assembly ended yesterday.

An announcement to this effect was made by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pramod Tiwari. The resignations were addressed to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey.

It is not yet decided when the resignations would be formally handed in to the Speaker.

The term of the present assembly ended yesterday. On October 18, 2001, Congress MLAs had tendered their resignations when the term of the then assembly ended on that day. The 14 assembly was formed in February 2002.
