BJP decides norms
New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The BJP today decided norms and guidelines for selection of candidates for the coming polls to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, scheduled to be held on April 5.
In a meeting of the Delhi pradesh Election Committee held under the Chairmanship of the BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan, it was decided that Only those candidates will be preferred during the ticket distribution who were totally dedicated and committed to the values and principles of the BJP.
According to the guidelines, the prospective candidates should not have against them any charge of indiscipline and should not be involved in any criminal case. He/She should not have contested against the authorised candidate of the BJP during the last five years.
Also, the candidate should not be from outside the constituency according to the new delimitation.
Women, youth, popular persons in the constituency, persons capable of winning elections and persons of clean image would be preferred in the selection of candidates.
Dr Harshvardhan said that it was decided unanimously that persons coming with large delegation at the Pradesh office and pressurising other leaders, office bearers here should be discouraged.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan said just after the announcement of seats under the new delimitation, the BJP has completed the work of scrutiny of the possible MCD candidates from every area by sending Observers in 141 Mandals and 16 Districts.
Inspite of this, about six to seven hundred people are submitting their applications in the Pradesh Headquarters every day, which shows their commitment and inclination towards the BJP .
