Bhaskaran laid to rest with state honours
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 26 (UNI) Noted Malayalam poet, lyricist and film-maker P Bhaskaran, who died here yesterday, was laid to rest today with full state honours.
His body was kept at the Kerala State Film Development Corporation and the VJT hall before it was taken in a procession to the thycaud crematorium for cremation.
Bhaskaran, 83, one of Malayalam's finest practitioners of lyrical poetry, died here yesterday. He had been ailing for some time and his health condition deteriorated in the past three days.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
Thousand of people from various walks of life paid their last tributes to the film-maker, who had revolutionised the Malayalam filmdom.
Chief Minister V S Achutanandan, Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy, ministers, film personalities and cultural leaders, were among others, who paid their last tributes.
Bhaskaran, whose poems and lyrics reflected the common man's aspirations, had left an indelible mark on the cultural realm of Kerala as a poet, lyricist, writer and film-maker.
