Two extremists shot dead in encounter

Gaya, Feb 25 (UNI) Two suspected Maoists were killed in an encounter with the police at Sukhabigha village in Bihar's Gaya district today.

Superintendent of Police A K Jain said police also recovered one SLR, two rifles, 92 assorted cartridges, detonators and some other incriminating articles from the site of the encounter under Bazirganj police station in the district.

The rifles recovered were earlier looted by CPI(Maoist) ultras, he added.

The two-hour encounter took place when the extremists opened fire at a police team which was proceeding towards the hideout of the rebels.

A combing operation had been launched.

UNI
