Kerala CM, Anthony condoles Bhaskaran's death

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 25 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Defence Minister A K Antony were among others who condoled the death of noted poet and lyricist P Bhaskaran, who passed away here today.

In a condolence message, Mr Achuthanandan said Bhaskaran was one, who was actively involved in the cultural development of the state.

Noting that he was a revolutionary poet, he said ''his poems and lyrics reflected the common man's aspirations.'' He was a poet who wrote in the common man's language, he added.

In a message, Mr Antony said the poet had contributed to the cultural and social development of the state through his writings.

Opposition Leader in the Kerala Assembly, Oommen Chandy condoling the death, landed said Bhaskaran for contributing to the development of Malayalam films.

The Cultural Minister M A Baby said the state had lost a great poet, who had always stood for the cultural and social uplift of the people. Law Minister M Vijayakumar said the state had lost a great social worker.

The Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty also condoled the death and said Bhaskaran had revolutionised the Malayalam filmdom.

Several others, including ministers, politicians and artistes in the film industry condoled the death of Mr Bhaskaran.
