Increase in plan outlay inadequate: Oppn Leader

Bhopal, Feb 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Opposition Leader Jamuna Devi has described the increase in plan outlay for 2007-08 for the state as inadequate.

In a statement issued here today, Ms Devi said percentage increase in plan outlay had declined in comparison to other states in 2007-08.

Citing RBI's 'A Study of State Budgets 2006-07', she said an increase of 38.2 per cent in plan outlay had been achieved in 2006-07 in comparison to 2005-06. However, it had declined to 33.16 per cent in 2007-08.

Describing the increase in plan outlay as inadequate, she said states like Andhra Pradesh and Bihar had average increase of plan outlay of more than 46 per cent.

Alleging the state government of not being able to accumulate resources, she said fall in the percentage increase of plan outlay was less than compared to other states.

She called provisions for schemes in irrigation, road and power areas as inadequate and said the government was spending more amount on non-developmental work.
