Four students attempt to commit suicide during Kalam's visit
Gulbarga, Karnataka, Feb 25 (UNI) Four students of an Industrial Training Centre here made a suicide attempt in the presence of President A P J Abdul Kalam during his visit to Srinivas Saradgi village in this district today.
Police said the students and consumed pestidicide during the function attended by the President to protest against not being offered jobs despite completing their training at the centre, which was run by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.
The police immediately rushed the students to a hospital. Doctors at the hospital said all the four were out of danger.
The President was in the district to launch the 'Suvarna Gramodaya' programme in the village, which was one of the 1000 villages identified by the state government for all-round development.
